Joyful

And now – I sit here awaiting my dinner to come to its completion. Spaghetti sauce(with onions, peppers, sausage…) merrily bubbling away on the stove and with the aroma wafting through the apartment…it’s feeling like dinnertime. Thought that while I wait for the sauce and sausage flavours to marry, I could write a few words here. Not much to say of note, really. Had a nice time at church this morning(Pastor Wayne finished up 2 Timothy – such a great book!) and then afterwards went out with friends for a BBQ lunch where I enjoyed a brisket sandwich with potato salad. Only in Texas.

This afternoon, got a bunch of random things done around the flat – yet still made time for my quiet time on the couch with my coffee, etc. Finally I decided to make dinner(even though still being a bit full from lunch!) to the lovely sounds of Beethoven on my TV(my favorite part of this TV I think – I can connect to youtube through it and play any kind of music I want for ambiance. My TV speakers are *far* superior to this old laptop’s speakers and it’s very nice hearing the music throughout my place).

With all that said, I do want to mention something briefly that I’m not sure I’ve said before – I’ve been planning my grand return to Europe for a while now…and so this week, on Thursday, I fly out! I’m going to first arrive in Budapest and pop up to Miskolc for the weekend…for Anna’s wedding. Yes, dear Anna is getting married – oh joy of joys! And so I’ll be there to celebrate with her and her family and friends. It will indeed be awesome to see her and her family again – been a while since I’ve seen any of them! Me and Noemi have been keeping in touch fairly well – and now we finally get to chat in person! (So much better, eh?) And of course..Steven will be at the wedding too. So – a true and most excellent reunion will be had. God is good. Always.

And of course, once I leave Hungary a week Monday, where will I end up? Aberdeen of course. A week in Scotland with my dearest friends awaits. I’m not going to detail my itinerary…but it will be most glorious. And I cannot wait. God is good and His lovingkindness is everlasting. Always. Always.

Now as Beethoven’s ninth comes to its climax, I think it is a good time for me to get my dinner. Peace, my friends – have a most lovely Sunday evening.

Thyatira

So another crazy week comes to an end…one overflowing with the joys and trials of work…and one in which I was reminded evermore of the goodness of our Lord. Ah how gracious is He to us – to provide us with such good things! I have been blessed with such sweet friends here in Scotland…and my God is always with me.

And now, my hastily cobbled together dinner is almost ready(I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to eat, so I ended up with chicken, pasta, romano cheese, onions, tomatoes, tomato sauce, green olives and lots of basil in a pan in the oven…now time to top it with mozzarella and see how delicious this experiment turns out…)

Farewell, all.

Grace and peace.

HOUSTON, what!

That’s right, I’m now working full time with Cameron and living in my own apartment and a thousand miles away from most of my friends. Is this what “real life” is all about???

Two things I’ve learned about Houston that I shall kindly pass along:

Number 1: It is hot here. Very very hot. So hot that in the thirty seconds it takes for me to get into my car and drive, I get a lovely sheen of sweat on my face. I used to think Florida was just as hot. I was wrong.

Number 2: There are some sweet(and by sweet I mean insane) road systems in Houston. Driving the beltway in the morning really reminds me that I’m ALIVE, blood pumping through my veins and cars roaring by. You most definitely have to be on your game to drive in Houston!!

And before you all get the wrong idea, I really do enjoy Houston. I’ve already found an awesome church(Baptist Church of the Redeemer!) and I’ve had some good times hanging out with my work people!

But hey, I still miss y’all. A lot.

Oh and one more note…just got my first ever digital camera…arrived today!! I haven’t opened it yet – been whetting my anticipation by waiting all night. So expect for me to have some pictures of H-Town soon!!

Oh and one more random story that was almost tragic but ended up in a rather delicious manner…last night I was making some chicken parmesan (first epic meal in the new place!) when a giant thunderstorm attacked my neighborhood…the lightning and thunder was nonstop and I was just a tad nervous. Still, I was just minding my own business frying chicken when the power went out. Power being out meant that my stove did not work which meant that I could not finish my meal! Thankfully…within about 20 minutes the power came back on and I completed my dinner and ate it…albeit at around 10:30 at night. And it WAS delicious.

And now…I’m off. I think ’tis time to play with my new camera.
