Tilted

Good evening! I don’t usually post my handwritten poems, but well. In a rare pensive yet sharing mood and so here you go. Tread soft and listen close. And have a most lovely night, my dear friends. Always.

Haunting cries
the star,
echoing the song
of a final
wistful soul.
Upon the withered
tree
a fruit hangs
waiting
for a drop
of rain.
And near atop
the moor
a boy runs his hand
across the thistles
wild
and aching with
the beauty all,
he
haunting cries.

Not Our Land

Upon the earth, a cracked bell rings
violently
and urgently
and men heed the call to arms.
Upon the earth,
thunder booms and
lightning crackles
and eyes look up in wrath and pain.
Upon the earth, a siren keens
shrilly
unceasingly
and men laud the call to war.

There is a girl
who shuts her eyes
in terror of the wrath of men unbridled.
There is a boy
who shudders fresh
in anticipation of monsters nearing.
There is a woman,
she soft moans
for abandoned hope and shredded innocence.
There is a man,
he cries and shakes
for eroded monuments and torn pretense.

Upon the earth, the gleeful dark
laughingly
and viciously
descends to seek and devour.
Upon the earth,
serpents writhe and
red rivers run
and eyes look up in pouring rain.
Upon the earth, last hope dwindles
mournfully
and with no song,
and all is dark,
not yet dawn.

There is a man,
he cries and prays
for the city wrought of pure love unbounded.
There is a woman,
she soft sighs
for precious hope and heaven’s hosts approaching.
There is a boy
who sings anew
in anticipation of the hope of nations.
There is a girl
who lifts her eyes
to the nearing song of the restoration.

Upon the earth, the trumpet sounds
soaringly
and gloriously
and all the skies shimmer in awe.
Upon the earth,
oceans kneel and
mountains spread their skirts
and eyes look up in hope again.
Upon the earth, Christ descends,
achingly
beautiful and
a rose petal gently flutters
to the earth.

Swift Sunrise

A lilting laugh and fields of green,
and all the clouds dance triumphant –
morning light and friend so sweet,
how can we not praise the King?

Upon a mountain, flowers lush,
and grass bending gently under
the kiss of the wind and
only the song of the birds
touch the silence.

Once upon a time,
Once upon this earth,
there was a man
and he was called from
a far country,
and he looked to the heavens
and he let his gaze linger upon the stars.
And he walked on and ever on.
The road was long and rocky yes,
and it led him he knew not where,
but his heart was full of love endued
and his eyes glinted grey in joy.
The road led him he knew not where,
and he walked in weariness at times,
but he walked not alone.
Once upon a time,
Once on this dear earth,
there was a man
and he was called to
a far country,
and he looked up to heaven.
And his eyes reflected back the stars.

Raindrops

My Friday mocha in hand, relaxing these few minutes before work starts and enjoying this day that the Lord has made!

The wind swirls.
Upward reaches that ever greener crown,
Tears of joy and life softly dripping down,
as that lone magnificent sky wanderer
loops a sweeter song
and lo the scent of good pure earth
burns so sweetly strong.
The wind joins in the chorus,
the peonies, blushing,
join their tongues
and rushing tears of heaven
add their voice.

Praise Him, ye heavens
Praise Him, ye earth
Praise Him, ye trees and birds and flowers bright
with all your laughing mirth.
Praise Him, ye stars above and seas below
Praise Him, ye glorious men and maidens,
Praise Him, our God and King and Christ!
Praise Him, the Lord of all!
Alleluia, Alleluia,
Praise Him, all the earth!
Praise Him who created,
Him who made us,
Jehovah is His Name.
Alleluia, Alleluia,
Praise Him, all the earth!

A Song upon the Lips

So just dashing off a quick post here! I have chicken and potatoes in the oven, set to come out in, oh…four minutes! So I will be quick(maybe). Spent the last few minutes uploading pictures to Walgreens so Mom can pick them up tomorrow. And before that, working on my Elijah study. So difficult because there’s just so much to say!! I pray God will give me further wisdom and grace. Anyway, it’s a great passage – at least I can say I’m encouraged by it! Now, it’s almost time to eat…but first gonna post a quick something I wrote this morning after driving to work. It’s terribly sloppy – why I should never write anything prior to my first cup of coffee – but…I haven’t written anything in so long, so here you go. It faintly echoes my heart. Faintly!

The clouds so dark,
they’re almost purple,
foreboding,
they sneer.
And yet the sea
blue and magnificent
reflects beauty towards
the sky.
Clouds swirl and gather
and sea leaps up
for that misty kiss
and time slows.
The sun breaks through
its morning curtains
and reaches out unto the sea.
And I tremble.
Beauty and bliss
and love divine.
I praise the King.

Seventy Sevens

Briefly, e’er so briefly I shall write! Just eaten a most delicious dinner of spaghetti(with Mom’s sauce recipe…eating it made me feel like I was home!! Can’t wait for delicious spaghetti leftovers the rest of this week). Now I’m about to enjoy my Harrenhal tart(made by Jo!) with a bit of coffee as I read and enjoy the remainder of this gorgeous weekend…

But truly, this weekend has been delightful! This morning I got to catch up with Jackie at Pret before church – hadn’t seen her in months! Sweet times talking, as always. And then even better times worshiping together with our whole church family! After church, while the spaghetti sauce simmered, me and John watched Two Towers(one of the best movies ever made, no?) and then this evening, we had our communion service at Gilc after a most awesome sermon on Daniel 9 by Pastor Dominic. Afterwards, had sweet times talking with Chris and Jo before driving them home and now the football is on TV as John and I chat.

I think I’ve said enough about my day(but seriously, am I not blessed with so many good things??) I think it is now time for my tart and coffee and book! But first…I’ll leave you with a brief something I wrote this night at church…

We threw ropes of shame
up to the stars
and pulled them down to earth.
We danced upon our mothers’ graves
as we shouted
songs of mirth.
We drank deep of
the blood of mountains
and drained
our lovers dry.
We sang sweetly
songs of justice
as we reviled
the weeping sky.
We shut our eyes
to creation’s glory,
we shut our ears
to starry song.

Oh Lord, how long your coming?
Oh Lord, have mercy on your sons.
Oh Lord, how long your glory?
Oh Lord – your love!
How long?

Inkstains

And night falls. I am home somewhat early this evening(not yet half past six!) and am now sitting sleepily on the couch before I prepare dinner(either leftover hamburgers and green beans, leftover spaghetti, or a frozen pizza. What shall I eat – too much delicious possibilities!)…so even though dinner-making(er – dinner-heating-up) would be a good plan, sipping on my smoothie and relaxing for a few moments feels amazing.

Anyways, why am I writing this? No idea, simply felt in a bit of a writing mood! I also feel in a bit of a running mood, but it is dark and cold and yes I am a fair weather runner.

And because I’m clearly incapable of writing half-decent sentences at the moment…the following gasp of poetry I leave with you. Now I’m off for my dinner! And after that…who knows? A book and a song and a prayer for help divine.

I see stars
welling through my window
I see candles
lighting up the sky.

I see heaven
reflected in these pages
I see stars
singing in the sky.
