Recycled Air

Good evening, friends!!

I’ve just had a good workout and going to clean up and get dinner ready soon(chicken/pineapple curry, very proper Wednesday night dinner)..but I’m on the computer now and thought I may as well write a few words! I’m sitting in our living room as the fading afternoon light slants gracefully across the floor and I’m enjoying my yogurt and listening to some chill Postal Service as my weary body rests. And truly, it’s wondrous thinking of how supremely blessed I am. Despite my hectic work of late(and subsequent weariness!), I have been given oh so much, not the least being overflowing grace from God my Father. Despite all that I am – I have been granted wonderful salvation, beautiful love. I have been born again – to a life of wonders ne’er ceasing. And for that, I praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!!!

Hope Unfailing

Good evening, friends!! I’m in the middle of cooking dinner, but as my chicken is taking its sweet time to reach that proper state of golden-brown deliciousness, I thought I’d take a quick break from the kitchen and write this! My dinner will (eventually) be a most awesome chicken/pineapple curry. For some reason, I felt in a curry mood. So there you go.

In other, less delicious news? Well for one, I can announce that I am now living at the Chuckberry house with John, Chase and Daniel. And as foreseen, it is awesome!! This day’s been perfectly delightful – after a encouraging and awe-inspiring morning at church(complete with chairing the control booth with Joe! Oh and…reminded how sweet it is, leaning on the everlasting arms of Jesus. Always, yo)…this afternoon has been no less sweet, hanging out at the house here with Daniel, good chat intermingled with football on the TV. Went out to the store quickly to grab dinner supplies and much enjoyed the gorgeous storm clouds scudding swiftly overhead as the rain fell softly down…

And now, my chicken is bubbling ominously and I should probably pay more attention to the stove and less attention to the 49ers/Cowboys game and this blinking laptop screen…

Have a sweet and most awesome evening, my friends. My love is with you, always.

Happy Monday, my friends!! I’m about to eat a delicious lasagna dinner with a bit of salad on the side – but thought I’d just state that time in Boston with the gang was truly awesome. Much fun was had – walking through the old cobbled streets, exploring the city where the American Revolution was born…biking along the coast of Cape Cod…playing games and being goofy and laughing almost too much!…but mostly, just enjoying all being together. Maryanne, Laura, Megan, Robbie…you are awesome, my friends.

Now, I’m going to start in on my dinner. Peace, one and all!

Stone of the Philosopher

Not going to write much tonight, but was just reminded that I haven’t written in a while…so I suppose I’ll put down a few words! I’m just enjoying some delicious (fresh-ground) coffee with strawberries on the side. Winning combination, I have to say. Soon, I’m going to get dinner ready(cucumber/tomato/green-onion salad yes), but now – have just been doing some trip planning. Because…less than a week from now, me, Maryanne, Laura, Megan and Robbie will be having a sweet adventure up in Boston!! It’s going to be pretty awesome exploring new territory and experiencing some epic American history…but the best part will be hanging out with some pretty awesome people. Y’know.

And now I say it’s dinner time. Have a most delightful evening, my friends!!

Passion

Good evening, friends!

I only have a couple of minutes tonight, as my dinner is almost ready. A bit of a late dinner, but hopefully worth it. Mom’s homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs! And a cucumber salad on the side, for good measure. It’s smelling delicious in here, gotta say. And I have ‘Rudy’ playing right now…one of my favorite movies. “He’s so little!” Love it! We might not all have the most natural talent(be it physical, intellectual or otherwise…), but that’s no barrier to us being used by God. Remember that. Playing football for Notre Dame may be pretty awesome(I wouldn’t know), but serving God is what we live for, my friends. Remember that.

Now, my dinner awaits – spaghetti and meatballs, delish. And a sweet night relaxing in the love of my Lord Jesus. Peace, friends.

Cottontails

Good evening, my friends!

I have but a few minutes as my dinner is currently baking away in the oven(fish fillets and french fries – simple and fantastic. Oh and a yummy salad too – complete with radishes, green onions, tomatoes…y’know). But I thought I at least wanted to write a couple words, mostly just to thank God for the most beautiful weekend that He gave to me! I can’t fully describe it or properly do it justice, but that doesn’t keep me from praising God for His goodness and love!!

So yes, this past weekend, was up with friends at a state park near San Antonio. And it was beautiful. I’m not always a huge fan of camping, but I couldn’t complain one bit about the time we had. Early morning walks through the Texas hill country…seeing the deer and the rabbits dart about and listening to the calls of the early morning birds and crying out to my God. Saturday – full of an epic hike through the rugged terrain and followed by a swim in the river – cold flowing water and hot sunshine and yes, I may have gotten slightly sunburnt – but oh so worth it! Eating lots of amazingly prepared food(plenty of coffee in the morning, and plenty of chili at night!). Having oh so sweet talks with friends, old and new – not much better than that. And of course, singing praises to our God around the campfire. Pretty awesome. Pretty glorious. And this slightly haphazard paragraph dances to and fro and does not properly describe the peace in my heart. Sometimes I feel far too frazzled and shaken by the fears and worries of this world…and so my God and Father gives me gift like this. A time to be with Him. A time to be with His people. A time to be in His world. A time to be with Him. Thank you, Father – for your mercies and love. Always.

Now, before I spill too many more words, time to turn off this computer and eat my dinner and further think on the love of Christ. Peace, my friends – peace and love!

Son of Gondor

Lasagna almost ready to eat and Fellowship of the Ring almost at its conclusion. What a beautiful evening! Every time I see this movie, I’m reminded why it’s one of my favorites. To see the veritable clash between good and evil. Darkness is out there – yet we fight. I just saw one of the most moving scenes in cinema history, the farewell between Aragorn and Boromir. “I would have fought with you, my brother…my captain…my king.” Oh love.

And so with one of my favorite movies winding to its end(Sam and Frodo sailing across the river together!), I just thought I’d post quickly this Saturday evening before I eat my lasagna. All good things come from the Father of lights, and it is Him to whom I offer my thanksgiving this night. Farewell my friends! Now, it’s lasagna time for me. Mmm delicious. Peace and love.

Great and Terrible

Good evening my friends! And Happy Friday!!

I’m sitting on my comfy couch this Friday evening, content and at peace. Content because I have a delicious dinner in the oven and a warm flat and clothes to keep the cold at bay. At peace because, despite what swirls around and within me, I am a child of my Father God. And it is well with my soul.

After that opening salvo, I shall attempt to write just a bit more this night. But first, while I gather my thoughts, I’ll describe my dinner! For I truly am looking forward to it. Lemon rosemary chicken, complete with squash and potatoes. It’s really not as fancy as it sounds, but it does smell delicious. And now with dinner out of the way – let’s get to the heart of the matter!

I just finished reading Malachi(and thus the Old Testament) a few minutes ago, and it’s such a delightful book to read. Truly. And maybe delightful is an odd word to use, yet I can’t think of a better. Just reading the words of God, pondering His coming. Thinking of the return of my Lord – the bringer of wrath and the purveyor of justice – the Lord who cares for the downcast and the humble man – and who despises the arrogant and the unjust. Our God will return, one day. And it shall be most awesome. And I truly long for that day, when there is no more pain or suffering or injustice. I long for that day when all the earth cries out – Glory to the Lord! – and all the nations bow before the King of Kings. What a day will that be. Yet who may abide the day of His coming? Those whom the Lord loves. Who can stand when He appears? Those whom the Lord delights in, because He has chosen them as His own and purified them as purest gold by the blood of His son. For our Lord is like a refiner’s fire – holy is the Lord!

Pardon the above paragraph – I fear it’s a bit disjointed, but thus are my thoughts this night. Also – reading Malachi reminded me of how much I enjoy listening to Handel’s Messiah. There are few – if any – pieces of music that bring as much glory to the Lord as that one. Praise the Lord, my friends. Praise the Lord – all the earth!!

And now my dinner is almost ready, which – I suppose – means this entry should be coming to a close. Just think on the Lord Jesus this night. Think of His beauty. Bask in His love. Fall to your knees and pray to Him. No matter what this world throws at us, no matter how our emotions rage – we are children of the living God. We are known. We are loved. Hallelujah!!

Peace, my friends. Peace and love.

Hello friends!

It’s a lovely Sunday night here in Houston, and it’s about bedtime, but not quite yet! I have the Dallas/Saints game on TV right now – taking full advantage of having TV since I’m moving apartments next week…and will not have TV in my new apartment. Isn’t a bad thing, but definitely the thing I’ll miss the most will be random sports-watching. I will survive!

Been a most awesome day today, must say! First had an awesome time at church, then out for lunch with friends(enchiladas and good chat, can’t beat it!). Afternoon I spent trying to write(about 1800 words written, guess I’ll count that as progress) and also watching Houston trying to beat Arizona. They were unsuccessful. I think all my football teams are cursed this year – between the Redskins, Bucs and Texans…they’ve won five games combined. And it’s week ten. Don’t even mention the Gators!!

Enough football though. This evening, I had a fine dinner – burgers, baked potatoes and green beans. Standard. Delicious. And after doing dishes and folding laundry, got to talk with Dad for a few minutes – hurrah! So, with this nice tidy update, I think I’m going to finish messaging a few people and then computer off. Tea is already made and I think a bit of reading will do nicely to finish off this day. And before I go, just want to say – have an awesome week my friends. In all you do, praise the Lord! Remember all He has done for us. And as He has been, so will He always be.

Again – praise the Lord!!

Hello there!

My spaghetti is boiling, so my time is already ticking down, but I thought I might as well write a few words this beautiful Sunday night. The Texans/Colts game is on TV(and the Texans are actually up 14-0, shock!) but I think I’m going to turn that off soon because my dinner is at hand. I’ve made proper Mom’s spaghetti sauce today, even though it’s looking suspiciously unlike hers. Ah well, it still tastes pretty good and the meatballs are legendary as always(can I call my own meatballs legendary? forgive me this once!) I’ve had a nice and relaxing afternoon, trying to write. I may be mad, but I’ve committed to NaNoWriMo(National Novel Writing Month) this November. This is a scary thought, because I’ve said I’ll write a 50,000 word novel in one month. Yes. I’m mad.

Anyways, I’ve actually already written about 5800 words, so – progress! It’s a mess though, I don’t think any of you will ever get to see it. We shall see.

In other news, church this morning(at Bethel) was fantastic. Worshiping God with a family of fellow brothers and sisters. Few things are better. And last night, went out with a crowd of people(I think we had fifteen of us? Thanks Abby for the heads-up!) to see Ender’s Game in cinema. One of my all-time favorite books by one of my all-time favorite authors. I went in a bit dubiously, doubting the movie could match the book. And while the silver screen has certain limitations in comparison to the written word…I was most impressed. The movie captured the heart and soul of the book, and I think I spent half the movie with my hands to my mouth, just trying to process the emotional breadth of it all. If you haven’t read Ender’s Game, it’s a science fiction novel involving a young boy who’s being trained to be a battle commander. It’s brutal and tear-worthy. His internal struggles and extreme loneliness are at the core of the book…and the movie handled that very well, I thought. I won’t write more on that now, because it is dinner time.

So farewell my friends. Have a most lovely evening. Peace.
