Good day today. Had to get up early this morning for chorus festival. It was all the way past Riverview, so it took forever to get there. I had a great time, though. First time singing on a stage like that…uber-cool – I loved singing up there. And we did pretty good, too.
After I got home, took a nice, long nap. For some reason, singing really wipes you out! I was dead tired. Now I’m doing homework – not fun at all. Later, all!

Random update. Yeah, just had a great walk through the rain(it is COLD outside), and it was awesome. I wish it rained like this more often, in the cold. I got sorta inspired, so wrote a quick poem. Not much good(mostly because the ENTIRE time I was writing it, I had “Don’t Stop Me Now”(Queen) stuck in my head). Still, I enjoyed writing it. And I’m posting it because, well…if I knew I wasn’t going to post it, I wouldn’t put the time into writing/polishing it. Even if it isn’t polished(very much). Meh, enough. Here it is.
Solitary Rain
Rain needles piercing the air
the last roar of winter bites
at my heels.
Streetlight standing tall
orange light slowly fades
towards my face.
Running through the fog night
Shooting through the water works
Twisting ’round and ’round
Tearing through the universe.
Slowly, slowly, walk now
through the chill rain
it cannot hurt me
it is my power.
Just felt like updating today..not really sure why.
Been a good week so far…I love FCAT. Yeah, yeah, of course you really hate it when you’re in 9th and 10th grades, but getting those four hours off every morning for three days straight was awesome. On Wednesday I woke up early, made myself a nice breakfast and then took the dog for a walk. See, this is what I wish every day was like, but no. Today was back to normal. It made me sad, waking up to a dark sky. Good thing, though, it was my sister’s birthday…Happy Birthday, Katharyn!!! It was fun, our whole family got up and my dad made pancakes for her birthday. Yummy.
School was pretty much normal. In calc, 3/4 of the class got called down to the main office – it was a “top 3% meeting”. Woo. We get to be in the paper(Tribune) later this year and go to a banquet. All really cool.
In chem, Mrs. Nevismal just asked us a bunch of trivia questions on life in the 1940’s. That was odd. But it was fun. During class, me and Chris took some of the leftover FCAT water bags(did you know they serve water in bags now? I didn’t) and threw them around all period.
Nothing else much happened…except in chorus we’re preparing for festival. We have one more day to get ready. I think we’ll be ok, but I wish I was better at sightreading. Oh, well. Also in the chorus note(no pun intended), we really, really, really need to work on Spectrum. We have less than a month…and we’ve only worked on the opener. We have tons more to do, and mrs. connelly hasn’t even assigned groups and songs yet. It’ll all work out, I’m sure, but I’m nervous all the same.
And now, I’m just randomly typing away, trying not to do my history homework. Tonight the family will be celebrating my sister’s birthday – cake and a movie. Braveheart, most likely. She LOVES that movie.
And now, I’m off to get some homework done..bah. Only a few more months, and useless/timewasting homework will be a thing of the past. Hopefully.
Later, guys.
Awesome day today, minus the school part…
I just got a letter in the mail that says I’m a National Merit Finalist!! Woo! This means that I could win money($2500) or I’ll get extra scholarship money from UF. This makes me very happy, finally knowing for sure.
In school, nothing much happened. In Euro, we whined to Granell and she let us take the test open-notes, with partners, so that was cool. In chem, we got our test back; I did ok. And now tonight, am going on our church’s annual men’s camp-out. That will be fun, even though it is COLD outside today. It will be even colder tonight. I’m just enjoying what will likely be the last cold weather of the year.
1000-word Silmarillion. If you’re a Tolkien fan and have read the Silmarillion, check that out. It’s absolutely hilarious.
To all in the talent show tonight: Good luck!!! Sorry I couldn’t make it..
Ok, so today was a good day.
It was a Friday…and it was cold. Huzzah for winter’s return! I was annoyed this morning, because when I stepped out of the house, it was chilly and windy and RAINING. So it felt REALLY cold, even though it wasn’t actually all that cold. The wind and rain made it feel miserable. But then in first period, we had pizza, so that made it all better. We had a “Unification of Italy” party, so we had Italian pizza. It was goood. Nothing else notable about the day, besides the fact that it was DREAM’S BIRTHDAY. 😀
When I walked outside after school, it was positively beautiful…perfect crisp weather. Just disappointed that I didn’t get to play football. Perfect weather for it.
Ok, just thought I’d update, since I haven’t in so long. Enjoy it. 😉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DREAM!!
January 8th
Ok, here is my “week-review”…not a lot of big stuff happened, but has been a pretty good week.
-School started again on Tuesday – last semester.
-I switched into Chorus – fun class.
-Math competition today, at Leto. Nobody placed, but it was fun. Team was Steve, Dream, Craig, me.
-Don’t think anything else happened this week, except I stayed up really late one night(past one)…I was tired.
And there we go. Hopefully my life gets a BIT more exciting. 😛
Only reason I’m really updating is to put up the below survey I just finished…took me about 6 hours of yesterday and I still didn’t finish it, mainly just because I kept leaving the computer to do something else and forgetting about it. So in reality it only took about 30 minutes to an hour. That’s still a long time though. Anyway, might as well make this a proper update…last few days have been pretty good…2005 has started out right. 🙂
On Saturday, I mainly just watched football – there were some great games, and all the teams I wanted to win, won…Iowa beat LSU(national champions last year) in the last play of the game. And Texas beat Michigan with a last second field goal. Awesomeness. I don’t really care about the championship game, though…USC, Oklahoma. Meh.
In other(non-football) news, I’ve…hm. Can’t think of anything not to do with football. 😛 Yesterday my family had a football game – even though I’m better than everyone else(hey, I’m not bragging), it was great fun. And my Redsksins won their last game!! rejoices They beat the Vikings, who only had to win to make the playoffs…they still made it, but the Redskins sent them to Lambeau Field to play the Packers. Haha.
Really, no more football now. Last night, family friends came over to have a Christmas celebration(they were in Chicago over Christmas) and I had a great time. We exchanged gifts and I got a Return of the Jedi soundtrack! I was so happy! Great music.
Tomorrow is school. This makes me very sad…I’ve had such an awesome winter break, and now school returns. Oh, well. One more semester. And…this is 2005. This is OUR year!!

Well, it’s almost a new year…this has been a good one. But it’s time to move on.
I was going to write some long, philosophical-like entry here, but I don’t really feel like it. It’s odd, though…when we were little, when I was a kid, time seemed to go so slow. I remember calculating my graduation year and thinking, “Wow! 2005, that’s so far away!” And now…it’s here. Tomorrow will be the year I end one era of my life…and begin another. I don’t understand how time goes so quickly…it seems just yesterday I was starting high school. But, I’m ready to go. I’ve taken all that high school can dish out…all it can punish me with. I’m ready. And tomorrow…that year begins.
Meh, I did almost start a long speech-thing…I’ll stop now. Really.
I’ve felt so tired today, I don’t know why…really hope I’m not getting sick right before school starts up again. School. Blah. Some years I’ve looked forward to school after a long break. This year? No way. I’ve enjoyed my break to the fullest…so much do I wish I didn’t have to go back. A whole semester of meaninglessness…
And now, almost midnight…really don’t feel like staying up. Just want to read some and fall asleep…mm, winter break is beautiful. Sweeney, sorry about not coming to your party…I did want to, believe me(if you think about it, Jess, you can probably figure out the reason for my absence).
I’m in a weird mood now – hate it when I don’t understand how or what I’m feeling – I feel sad for some reason, I suppose it could be that I don’t really want to grow up. Yet I do. In some ways, I wish everything could stay like it is right now. But no. I don’t really want that. And then, I’m so happy to be alive…today I was playing football with my family – after a catch for a touchdown, I just knelt down and looked at the sky for a moment – it was so big and beautiful. And I feel like that now, how I did looking at it, glad to be living.
Wow…if I was smart, I probably would delete that whole previous paragraph…but I don’t really care.
This is enough – I’m off to do something else…reading is my tonic. 🙂
Happy New Year, all!! 2005 is almost here – I’ll see you all on the flip side.
For a child will be born to us, a
son will be given to us;
And the government will rest
on his shoulders;
And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end to the increase
of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it
with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts
will accomplish this.
-Isaiah 9:6-7
*is happy* Very true words…^^
