Pencil!

Wow…I haven’t updated in a while. I feel I really should…and besides I have something I want to talk about…

*clears throat*

Tonight I got this Pencil of Awesomeness from a family friend that visited Japan and China recently…the pencil is rubbery and flexible…I can tie it in knots…it rocks. I will keep it forever. And the pencil came from Japan(take that, Dream!). It’s tied in a knot and hanging from my ear right now. Hehe.

I really should make a more “substantial” update..so much has happened this month. Graduation. Prom. Grad parties. Star Wars. Not in that order. Maybe later. If I get the time. Suffice it to say, May 2005 will always be remembered.

*goes off to play with pencil*

Ow. My ears hurt. More on that later.

Today was an awesome day..just having nothing to do all day rocked. Woke up late, hung around the house until about 12, when Chris and John E. picked me up. We went and got our tuxes(one week ’til prom!) and then me and Chris went and ate at Applebees. After that, came home, gamed a little, ate dinner, then went out to the grad party…Andrew came by with Maja and we all went together. It was a rocking time there…I do love to dance. But I’m obviously not experienced enough with loud music…when we walked out about half an hour ago, my ears were ringing. And they still are. Anyway, great time there. That sums up my day…two more days of awesomeness…and then school.

Wow, the last few days have been so busy…but in an awesome way. I really should have updated sooner, just never got around to it ’til now.

Thursday started off with brain bowl…went to MOSI at around 8. brain bowl was really fun, surprisingly. Unlike last year, in which we lost the first two rounds, Gaither’s team advanced to the fourth round before we were knocked out…on a tiebreaker. We should have won, but we choked. Meh. It was still fun. Joey Gibney’s mousetrap cars rocked, beating almost all of the mass-produced kit cars. And I learned that ap chemistry is good for something..the chemistry equations competition wasn’t that bad at all. But, didn’t win. The best part of Brain bowl was the food, though…they brought in Pizza Hut…best pizza ever.

Finally got home at about 3:15 or so, and about five minutes later, Amy called…I had forgotten that I was supposed to pick her up for calc help. Oops. Well, my mom and I went over to her house and got her. At my house, tutoring ensued. Or not. Surprisingly, we get quite distracted trying to do math…I think we did two problems. Was great fun just talking and talking…after dinner, me, Amy, and my sister went over to see Midsummer Night’s Dream. Was totally AWESOME!! I must admit, that was one of the best(probably was the best) play I have seen at GHS(or anywhere, since I haven’t seen plays anywhere besides GHS). Chris, Jess, and everyone else in it…you all rocked…hard!! Thursday was just a magnificent day…even though brain bowl exhausted me…well, the afternoon and evening more than made up for it.

Friday was ok. At least the first part. The evening was awesome. In third and fourth periods, had a massive calc test. Fifth period, had a chem test. Wow, was I dead after that. That fried me for the rest of the day, so when I got home, had to take a nap to recharge. And then…Madrigal! Me and my mom went to Madrigal(put on by Chamberlain). Amy was in it…and naturally, she was amazing…amy, you’re awesome. The food was very, very good…but the best part was the singing! Act 1(the premier chorus of CHS) put on quite a show…I had a simply exquisite time listening…nothing better than to listen to good music, eat good food… Me and my mom were sitting at a table with amy’s parents, so we talked with them most of the time…they seemed pretty nice. Afterwards, Amy came and we all talked for a little while, until soon she had to go get changed, so I escorted her to the changing room, then me and my mom left. Was just an incredible evening…

Today didn’t compare at all with the previous two days. Did calc homework for most of the day, until tonight, when I went over to Andrews for gaming fun. Played Halo with him, Chris, Craig, Jason, Eddie, Zach, and Rachel. Maja was there, too, but she “doesn’t play video games”. Much homocidal fun ensued.

And now, it’s late and I’m tired…I just had to chronicle the past few days’ events…enjoy the update. One more week…and it’s AP time! And no more homework…EVER. Or, at least for high school.

G’night, all!

SPECTRUM…2005!

Wow, first night of Spectrum is over…and it was totally awesome. It’s such a different experience, performing in front of so many people…some people do it all the time. But this was totally new for me…and I loved it.

Our small group’s song was the third number, so it was nice to get that done right away…and I think it went pretty well! Steve said he went sharp, but he’s always hard on himself…and my mom(very good singer) didn’t notice, so that was ok. Every other song was awesome – just being there, performing, was incredible. I can’t wait for tomorrow night!! Even though I will be glad, in a way, when it’s over. My family and some friends from church were there…and they loved it. I saw Mrs. Granell afterwards and she said she saw a whole new side of me – she thinks of me as the smart kid, valedictorian…and then she heard tonight.

Amy found out today that she’s getting a national merit scholarship from FSU!! That news(and Spectrum tonight) totally made my day! You rock, Amy!!

Hm, I’m pretty hungry…think I might eat something now, then maybe finish history homework, then off to bed. I am so worn out from the show..

So, no more school ’til Monday – this is a good thing. Tomorrow is the Renaissance Festival, and all the senior english classes are going. Even though I’ve never been before, I’ve heard it’s much fun. Anyway, that also means no school and no extra homework. Unless Nevismal finds me and gives me homework…like she did yesterday after math bowl.

And speaking of math bowl, it went pretty well. The calc team was me, Dream, Craig and Steve. Dream scored the highest(placed 15th) and we got 4th place as a team. Woo! Wasn’t expecting that, but it was very cool. Me and Steve left early to get to chorus(Spectrum rehearsal), and at lunch the rest of the math team found me and gave me the trophy.

In chorus, we learned the medley(last song we needed to learn) yesterday and today. Some pretty fun songs, some more serious ones(for my group, we got 30 seconds of “Can You feel the Love tonight”). Today, my small group rehearsed for the first time with the band…it didn’t really go so well. First of all, the band was playing in the wrong key, so we had to adjust…we had no monitors, so couldn’t really hear ourselves, especially because we were singing so low. But, hopefully we’ll do better with further practice.

Mm..today in chemistry we had our Olive Garden lunch…was SO good. They had pasta with salad and LOTS of breadsticks. I was sure they would only give us a few, but I definitely ate at least 5. With a full plate of salad. And two plates of pasta. I was so full afterwards, it was hard to sing in chorus next period! At dinner tonight, I could only eat one burger…my dad wondered what was wrong.

This weekend will be very busy – on Saturday is a supposed “History Bowl” – only heard a few details, but Mrs. Granell asked me to be part of the team. It sounds fun – history’s always been my favorite subject, so that will be cool. And of course we have lots of calculus homework – a chapter 2 review packet plus a practice ap exam – all due monday. Oh, and we also have a test Monday. Not fun.

That’s all for now…until next time.

Just for the record, I love spring break.

Today was awesome – went boating with some friends from church. I didn’t know you got so WET in a boat. Afterwards we picnicked on the beach while trying to catch polluted fish – I don’t think I’m cut out to be a fisherman. I got annoyingly sunburnt but had a thoroughly good time.

We came back to their house, had dinner and watched Star Wars – Episode II…nothing better to finish off the day. Also had some great lightsaber duels(in which I broke my opponent’s lightsaber – Lost Hope, anyone?).

Haha, Michigan State beat Duke in the NCAA basketball tournament…awesomeness. Michigan State’s my team – hopefully they go all the way!

I really need an mp3 player…if only they weren’t 200 bucks…

IRELAND FOREVER!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, one and all!

One more quarter of school. And then it’s off to college. With all the responsibility it comes with, I’m still excited about going. Just knowing that I have the freedom to make my own decisions and that with college comes the decisions that will determine the course of the rest of my life…

I’m looking forward to Spectrum – despite the limited time we’ve had to learn the songs and routines, I’m sure we’ll be ready by April. We were going over the guys’ routine today. Good song – “What is Love?”, and the dance isn’t too bad, either. Remember, Spectrum is April 7 & 8, 7:00(I think).

May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Very nice..
