I think I’m in a poem writing mood.

Springlight
Golden beams slide through double doors
Lazy notes fill the air with springtime
High voices reach the marble balcony above
Snow orbs and cobalt spheres float like doves.

Chocolate flows like river swift
Trumpets blow and strings sing
He bows and ever so gently asks
She smiles and her heart unmasks.

How long the night!
How rich he danced!
How sweet she sang!
How their hearts rang!

Her dark hair laughed upon her head
Her coral gown softly framed her smile
Her blushing feet moved like lightning
And how her cocoa eyes glanced, brightning.

Sitting at last with comrades dear
Sharing sweets and talk alike
But now the final music trance
But now the last spring-sun dance.

Gently the waves of music issue
Tenderly does he take her arm
Softly does she touch his back
Slowly, slowly, fade to black.

Almost over is the star-wished night
Out into moon smile do friends alight
And ever drenched in spring shine rain
Do happy and weary eyes in ending, bright.

So, it’s spring break. I just realized I haven’t written anything substantial in a long time. Right now, I’m at home in Tampa, chilling in my room while Rob plays Madden ’02 on his Gameboy. He just got here today and tomorrow we’re going down to Sarasota to finish off our spring break before going to Gainesville. But I’m starting this off all backwards. Let’s go back a little ways…

This semester’s been pretty good so far – even though I have a lot of work, I like most of my classes. Intro to ISE. Financial Accounting. Operations Research. Statistics 1. AutoCAD. The hardest one is probably Statistics, but at least I’m doing ok gradewise so far. Anyway, this is all boring stuff that probably none of you want to hear, so I’ll just skip to spring break.

I actually haven’t done much so far this past week – I came here last Friday and have basically been relaxing at home. Which is SO NICE. Great home-cooked meals and being with the family. I had a lot of Operations research homework as well as financial accounting homework, which was annoying, but I’ve gotten most of it done. Monday night was Sara Wilkin’s b-day, so me and Dream and Amanda went out and celebrated with dinner at Estela’s, this great Mexican place. I do so love Mexican food…

Wednesday, a bunch of us hit up the beach at Fort Desoto – I probably should put some pictures here, but I’m getting a little tired; maybe in the next few days I’ll post a picture update. Anyways, the beach was awesome. Even though the water was cold, we got some good sand-castle building in. And of course, you can’t go wrong with grilled hot dogs, mmm…

Today, I’ve been doing more homework until Rob got in from Tally. We then went to Wal-Mart and Target to restock my college snack supply and I applied at Target to work over the summer. For dinner tonight, my dad made chicken parmisan and it was amazing! Dream and Chris came over too and afterwards we watched United 93(great movie…so moving) and then the Gators game(first round of the NCAA tourney). We beat Jackson State 112-69. Not bad at all.

I guess I should probably get going to bed soon since we’re gonna get up early tomorrow to go to the park to play basketball, but I’ll leave you all with a short poem:

Mid-morning
Harsh as glass against the skin
Dull as unfound pearls half-buried
Reaping fruits not quite ripe
Reaching for the diamond light

Waves rippling strongly onwards
Trees bowing before the clouds
Water cascading down upon the shore
Traveling through the wilds evermore

Sun peeks over the azure horizon
Rising crystal vapor gleams
New morning parades its lace
a blushed glance, unveiled face.

I don’t know why I’m posting this, but Dream wants me to, so why not? 😉 This is a bit of a fluff poem, but I like it. Hope all of you do, too. 🙂 What do you do when you like a girl and you don’t know if it is right to pursue her, hm? That is the question of the hour. Anyway, onto the poem.

Sun shining through clear prism of blue
Leaves descending on an airy balustrade
Lavender petals frame a perfect picture
Hands touching each other in love.

Hearts melt like chocolate in the sun
Tender glances lead to soft words which
Flow like a brook through the summer woods
In such love eyes meet and purely sparkle

Sun pouring through porous cotton
Trees bend gently down to emerald field
Rose petals float and caress the air
Hands held gently as a medal of love.

Love entranced eyes gaze with pure light
He looks at her with her hair softly dancing
She looks at him with his eyes strongly piercing
And they love.

COLD

Just had our first flag football intramural game of the season – and wow, was it cold. It’s supposedly 33 degrees right now, and playing football in that weather is intense! It was so cold walking to the game that I could barely feel my fingers. Even though, I loved it. Playing football in the cold, every breath the players take steaming through the air…nothing better. Sadly, we lost…18-11. We had several opportunities to win it, but alas. And now I’m warm and cozy in my sweats and thawing out…and I’ll just say, I could go for some hot chocolate right now.

So, almost the end of the week – FINALLY! The only thing I have left to worry about is my statistics exam at 12:50. I think I’m ready for it – but still a little nervous. We’ll have to see how that goes…

I had my 7:25 accounting discussion today – it’s so weird going to class that early in the morning. It feels like high school all over again. And it was SO cold this morning. Had to be in the 30’s, which I haven’t felt for a while. It was weird because as I was walking to my class, I had a cup of coffee – the inside of my hand was nice and toasty while the outside of my hand was freezing. Very odd sensation, let me tell you. But, for some reason, I don’t mind the early class TOO much. Just the waking up at 6-something. That’s not fun. Oh, and in class, while we were going over stuff I sort of already knew, I wrote a haiku. I’ve never really written them before, but I did. And it’s pretty lame, but hey, all haikus are. Here it is:

Accounting is a
very bad place to be at
an early hour.

Actually, I wrote it a little differently in my notebook, but it didn’t follow the form(ok, I don’t write them all the time), so I modified it a touch, so it actually is a haiku(5,7,5 instead of the 5,5,7 I had). Oh, and hour is two syllables. I so decree it.

Anyways..since you probably didn’t want to see my haiku anyway, I’ll change the subject. I’m sort of hungry, so I should probably eat breakfast soon. But I’ll talk about the Career Showcase instead. That was on Wednesday and was much fun. I was really worried, but I don’t know, I found it very..exhilarating, to be there and talk to the recruiters from different companies. I don’t know if I’ll get an internship, but at least I met a bunch of different company people and passed out my resume a lot. After it, I was exhausted though. I wish I’d gone last semester, but at least I went this time. I’ll definitely have to go next fall to get an internship for NEXT summer.

Ok, I’m not sure of what else to write, even though I know lots has happened, so I’ll just call it an entry and go have breakfast. Hope everyone has an awesome day!!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

That’s right, once again, the Gators are national champs!!! Only this time, it’s football. Wow, an absolutely unbelievable game. 41-14. We didn’t just beat them, we KILLED them…our defense looked better than I’ve ever seen it. Our offense was amazing. And Ohio State looked lost. And confused. And very, very sad.

We sacked Troy Smith(Heismann winner, by the way) more times than he completed a pass. Leak threw completions his first 9 passes. And we just got another national championship.

Oh, and this is the first time ever…that a university has been reigning champion at both football and basketball at the same time. GO GATORS!!!

I watched the game at the Jungle II with Rob, Nicole, Javier, Alicia, Eric…and the rest of the Jungle people…we were stunned when the Buckeyes returned the first kickoff for a touchdown. But we were sporting delirious smiles for the rest of the night. After the game, Gainesville went nuts. We lit a Christmas tree on fire in the middle of the parking lot…ok, maybe that was a little bit dangerous. But we were NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. Ran out to University Ave. after that – so crazy with so many people yelling and screaming and dancing and singing…like they say, “It’s great – to be – a Florida Gator!!” This is the one time when it’s acceptable to hug and high-five everyone you see and just go CRAZY! Even the danger of stampedes and getting run over by fire trucks didn’t dampen our spirits…although the thought of having a class the next morning didn’t make me too happy. Eventually, I made my way home…and got some sleep.

Unfortunately, had to get up at 8:30 this morning. Had an awesome day just remembering all the great moments of last night’s victory. Rob recorded the game on his computer, so we’ve been watching that again and again. I bought the official national championship shirt and happen to be wearing it right now. Maybe I’ll wear it tomorrow too! And tonight I was at the basketball game against Arkansas. A great game in its own rights, but at halftime…the football team came out onto the court, and the ODome erupted. They brought out the championship trophy..so beautiful! The basketball team came back on and started congratulating the football team. Amazing to have two championship teams in one place, let me tell you that.

Ok, this is a really long entry, but I guess I might as well say, despite my glee over our win and championship, it’s never good to put your hope in football teams…they may be amazing at times, but they can fail, too. But God never fails, and I hope this Gators dominance works out for His glory. Actually, I know it will.

And one more time.

GO GATORS!!!!!!!

So, I’m back in Gainesville – already been to two classes, but still not in the school routine yet…mainly because of what’s going on tonight.

The Gators are playing the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!! I’m so hyped for the game, it’s going to be amazing. Been 10 years since we were last in the title game, hopefully it won’t take that long for our next one!! So, to all you Gators(and even non-Gators), root for Florida!!

GO GATORS!!

Merry Christmas!!

The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.” -Luke 1:26-35

Indeed, this is why we celebrate. What wonderful words!!

Merry Christmas, one and all! I pray that all of you may have a wonderful Christmas Day and coming new year!!!

I got straight A’s this semester!!!!

Wow, I’m still sort of in shock that I pulled out an A in Statics…Praise the Lord – I must have aced the final!! I’m just so happy and so thankful…this is my first semester that I’ve gotten all A’s. Thanks to God, I’ve done it.

Now, to enjoy a long and – dare I say – well deserved Christmas break…ahh, to smell cookies baking every day and have all the time in the world to read the books I want to read. Life is good.

I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praises to You. I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name. In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul. -Psalm 138:1-3

Winter is here!

It was nice and cold today, the coldest it’s been so far at school this year! And the trees were colorful with the leaves of fall, and it was sunny and clear…pretty much the perfect day. Alas, I had to spend most of it indoors studying for my final statics exam, which just happens to be tomorrow. Surprisingly, even though it’s my hardest class, I’m feeling confident for the final. I think part of that confidence has to do with the fact that I actually had an organized study plan. I started studying for statics on Monday and have been studying almost every day since for it. Even in my idle thoughts statics problems pop into my head! Yes, I’d admit that’s strange.

But, I’m done with my studying for tonight(before 10? Shocking!) and now I’m going to go for a walk(Rob, too) in this beautiful winter night. After tomorrow’s exam, I’ll be done with school until January! Hurrah!
