You may ask while I’m still up…well, there’s an easy answer to that: Web DSS homework. It’s some of the most ridiculous homework ever; we’re going through the material so fast that I’m not fully understanding what we’re doing. So with this homework, I just have to try to figure it out by trial-and-error, which is no fun, let me tell you that. Anyway, I just took a shower and am taking a short break before going back to work.

I can’t wait for this weekend, I can tell you that – this week has been so crazy with homework and project work and lab work…I’ve gotten little sleep, yet I’m still going. This weekend will be just as busy with studying(for two exams next week) and homework…but just to have one Friday night to relax will be most beneficial to my health.

Before I go off and do(i.e. attempt) more homework, I have to talk a little about our football game tonight…tonight was our flag football intramural playoff game! This has been a really weird season, because we were supposed to have four games, yet 3 of them were canceled due to rain, so we only got to play one other game, sadly. And strangely enough, our playoff game tonight was against the one other team we played(who beat us 10-9 in a hard-fought game). Anyway, this morning dawned bright and clear, around sixty degrees..perfect football weather!! After a lot of classes and project work(and a sweet lunch with Ryan), we finally started our football game at 7pm.

Anyway, it was such a defensive struggle…Neither of us could really move the ball the whole game. I made a few awesome plays, though. Near the end of the game, the other team threw it deep and their receiver caught it, running for the end zone with no one to stop him…I came across the field and dived, grabbing his flag about ten yards short of the endzone(very surprising to me, since I’m not that fast!) And on that same drive(I think 2nd down), they threw the ball, one of my teammates tipped it, and I dived for it, grabbing it with outstretched arms before falling to the ground. Such an awesome interception!! And now you’re probably thinking, “Wow, James is really bragging it up…what a arrogant guy…” Don’t worry, my ego will be brought low in a few minutes…after that interception, the game ended with the score 0-0(crazy!) Overtime started and they got the ball on our 10 and scored on 4th down. Oh well. We went in on offense, and on 2nd or 3rd down, after snapping the ball I rolled out to the right, WIDE OPEN. Lauren(our QB) threw the ball up to me…the ball was in the air for so long, that I had time to think, “Wow, this is the game-winning touchdown right here…” Yep, I let me mind wander(the ball was hanging in the air for at least 5 seconds!) and I lost the ball in the field lights….and it missed my hands, hitting my chest! So, yes, I dropped the game-winning touchdown. Happy now? We almost scored after that, but Lauren was a yard short of the endzone. So we lost. But what a game!

Ok, I bet a lot of you didn’t really care to read about all that football, but I wanted to write it. And it was a good break from DSS homework. Good night all(hope the rest of you are in bed, where I wish I could be!)

Good times in college…finally played Halo 3 yesterday at Galan’s place – sweet game, so much better than Halo 2…I remember when I first played the original Halo and how bad I was at it, but how much I had fun with it. So many years ago! Anyway, this was a sweet weekend(involving me eating pizza about 5 times during the course of it!) but now I’m dreading this week with some crazy homework I didn’t know about until earlier this evening.

And besides all the fun things that have been going on, I’ve been having my own mental battles…I’m not crazy enough to go into all of it here…anyway, I just thank God that He is God and that He is. Without that, how lost would I be…

Sighing, I weep and weeping, I write, what is the
meaning, the meaning of life. What does this
blood mean? What does it do? I feel stabbed
by your apathy, wounded by you. Give me your
heart drops, give me your tears.
God knows I’ve given you mine.

God is so good. Good times talking with good friends…indeed, we are blessed! After being so busy for the past few weeks, God reminds me how He is always watching over me…and today was just a great day. Creekside was great as usual and lunch with people afterwards(Hot Wok!) was ever so fun…and I actually got some homework done this afternoon! Homework that isn’t due until Friday! Am I mad? Well, I guess that question is still up for debate, but the homework got partly done, and that’s just awesome. And later this evening, we had prayer and praise at the church…such a great time singing outside and then discussing our thoughts inside. I feel so blessed to have such great friends and fellowship. And after the time, me, Rob, Dream, Mecca, and Galan talked and talked out in the parking lot about our lives…what’s happening now in them, what we want them to be, what we’re wishing for at this stage in our lives…truly, great conversations. Such a great bond of fellowship. Afterwards, went to Publix and got my soda for the next few weeks, YES. After that, went back and talked to Dream for a while…reminded how great it is having her as a friend(don’t get a big head, Dream!). And now, I am content to do some more homework and go to sleep…what a great day the Lord has made.

So I had my microprocessors exam today. And I dominated.

I’ve not had that much sleep lately, because I was up studying(listening to my Relient K/Switchfoot/Jars of Clay playlist – hence the song I posted in the middle of the night earlier)…I had a couple naps throughout the night, but beyond that, straight studying. Well, maybe not straight…every once in a while I was on my computer checking out Facebook, etc. Anyway, I studied hard and went in with my coffee and a grim determination. And I took that test by the throat and gave it what for. Or as Rob G would said, “I didn’t just beat it…I beat it in the face.”

And now I am still pretty tired and I have an interview at 12:45 today(Career Showcase was yesterday and was pretty sweet) so now I am going to take a nap. A nice long nap.

I really shouldn’t write when I’m tired – I feel like I’m making no sense.

Goodnight.

We were talking together
I said, “What’s up with this weather?”
Don’t know whether or not
How sad I just got
Was of my own volition
Or if I’m just missing the sun
And tomorrow, I know
Will be rainy at best
And the forecast, I know
Is that I’ll be depressed
But I’ll wait outside
Hoping that I’ll catch sight of the sun
Because on and off
The clouds have fought for control over the sky
And lately, the weather has been so bi-polar
And consequently, so have I

But now I’m sunny with a high of 75
Since You took my heavy heart, and made it light
And it’s funny how you find you enjoy your life
When you’re happy to be alive

And the temprature’s freezing
And then, after dark
There’s a cold front sweeping
In over my heart
And we might break up
If I don’t wake up to the sun

Because on and off
The clouds have fought for control over the sky
And lately, the weather has been so bi-polar
And consequently, so have I

And now I’m sunny with a high of 75
Since You took my heavy heart, and made it light
And it’s funny how you find you enjoy your life
When you’re happy to be alive

How deep the Father’s love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That he should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns his face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom.

Sweet day. Despite being super busy and not getting any rest, I enjoyed today greatly. And now I’m very tired. But I’ll try to give a quick summary. Had my 7:30 MicroP class today, which was mostly good, even though my prof packed so much material into our heads, it was ridiculous. After that, met up for breakfast with John to debrief on our bible study on monday…it was great hanging out with him, since I don’t see him all that often. After that, went back to Keys and then to the BCM to pick up my Tennesee football ticket – our seats are high up, but about the 50-yardline, so that’s good. That game is going to be intense – can’t wait!

Came back from the BCM to Keys and then went right over to Weil to do my MicroP lab with my group…it was a weird lab that messed with our heads, but we pretty much figured it out. Then, came back to Keys and then went to what was supposed to be our first flag football game of the year! Sadly…there was much thunder. And lightning. Soo…our game was definitely canceled. But did we care about the storm? Nah…we definitely scrimmaged with the other team for an hour or so. And after that, came back to Keys(for about the fifth time), showered, and went over to Mary’s house for a sweet movie night…we watched the original Batman, which was awesome. So different from Batman Begins, but I loved it. So colorful and hilarious and weird and amazing. And now…I am tired. And should probably do some kind of homework. Sadly enough.

Farewell!

I really do like Tuesdays. It seems weird, but my favorite classes seem to be my 7:30 ones. Last semester, I always enjoyed my 7:30 Friday accounting lab. And now that I have my two hour 7:30 Microprocessor class, I’m loving that too – the material is pretty sweet stuff. Gotta love that Boolean algebra. Maybe it’s just the fact that in all my early classes, I have coffee. Yep, that’s gotta be it. Coffee just makes class more fun. Proven fact. Well, in my head at least. And I need to find a buy a good coffee machine and buy some awesome coffee – I’ve come to the conclusion that it will be cheaper in the long run to do that than buy coffee from Java City twice a week.

And to more serious matters…today is September 11th, 2007. So odd to think that six years ago today, I was in my freshman year of high school while four airliners were hijacked by terrorists. While I was in my microprocessor class today, around 9:00 or so, I remembered how six years ago, I had just found out about the attacks while in my second period computers class…how strange it is to think a moment like that is frozen in my memory forever. That day is still clear in my memory, but not as vivid as it used to be. I wish I’d taken the advice of my history teacher in sophomore year to write a detailed account. He told us that we had witnessed history and should record our impressions. I thought of it as schoolwork(thus didn’t do it) but now wish I had. I did write something for a messageboard(BZPower) back in 2002, so thought I’d post that here now(unedited).

Written 9/11/2002

I can still remember that day as if it happened yesterday…

I went to school as normal, my 1st period English progressed like it always did, and then I went to 2nd period Computer and Business Skills; we were pounding away in the typing program when, sort of subconsciously, I saw a teacher come into the room and whisper to my teacher.(This is around 9:00 Eastern Time) Then my teacher told us that a plane had crashed into the WTC and she turned on the TV.
To tell you the truth, I didn’t really think it was that big at first. I thought that it wasn’t that big of a deal, some small plane had accidentally crashed into the WTC, and I thought, Well, that is really sad and probably a few people died, but at least, probably, not too many people were hurt.
For the rest of the period, we watched the TV, but I didn’t really get what was happening. The next period, Team Sports, was outside, so no TV, but in that class, people were saying how the Pentagon had been hit, the White House exploded, and the Capitol had collapsed.
That was when I began to realize it was much more serious. I could not fathom all those landmarks going up in smoke, and I knew this would be a turning point for America.
The next class, Spanish II, was in a portable classroom, so there was no TV, and I still did not totally know what was going on. After lunch, I arrived in 5th period Physical Science and I asked my teacher, “WHAT happened?”
She then told me how both towers had collapsed, the Pentagon had been hit, and a plane had crashed in Pennsylvania. For the rest of the day, I was in shock.
I went to my last class, geometry and for the first time(but not the last) I saw the video of the towers collapsing. Finally, I got to go home. I walked home, like I usually do and saw my family around the TV. We had planned to have a big turkey dinner with one of our friends, an Air Force Reservist, but no one was hungry. Our friend was crying over what had happened, so we tried to comfort her.
I will never forget that day.
And I know how most of us hate Osama bin Ladin and wish he were dead, but I say we follow the the words of Jesus and “Love our enemies” and pray for him.
I will never be the same and I know most of us never will be either.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!

And on that somber note, I am off to get ready for Arredondo Room…mmm, beef stew. Haven’t eaten breakfast today, so I’m starving. Hope everyone has a great day!

Weekend AT LAST!! It’s been a bit of a tiring week – homework has finally started rolling in. Tonight Rob has some friends from Tally coming, so we’re going to Gator Nights to see a movie…we’re waiting for them to get here, so I figured I might as well post a quick entry…

The other day, me and Rob got up at 4:30 in the morning to go sing(no, not sing, but Rob’s singing, so I just typed that..and yeah, I’m too lazy to backspace)…so yeah, we went to sign up for our flag football league. It was our fourth time doing it…so we’re sort of used to it…we knew to bring pillows. There were about thirty other people in front of us(some with tents!). Anyway, after that, I was dead tired and fell asleep until my 10:40 class(Facilities). And I sure have posted a lot of parentheses in this paragraph.

Besides that, I haven’t done much…except my muse finally came back to me. Don’t know if that’s a good thing, but wrote a couple poems last night. I actually wrote with paper and pencil…first time I’ve done that in a while. And then in classes today, I wrote three more. Anyway, not going to post any of ’em now, but just thought I’d share that. Yes, I tease.

Anyway, we’re about ready to walk out the door. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
