The night is warm, the air is still
I ride out into the night
the breeze strikes the stillness, a breath.
I ride on, my heart lifts, I see a star.

The storm is coming, advancing
the wind drives ahead, not a breeze
no, no more. My head is up, I feel
the wind against my face. I ride on.

I feel raindrops, raindrops,
dancing on my shoulder
I wish to dance, dance with them
and feel as free

On comes the storm, almighty, powerful
I see a palm tree, swaying in the wind
as a dancer, it touches my cheek, asks
me to join her in the beautiful night

The wind trumpets in my ears, pounds
in my head. I feel free. I ride on,
effortlessly, freely. I see the moon
unveil its face for an instant. It smiles.

I sense the storm, the impending thunder
I ride hard now, fiercely. The breeze,
once so soft, shakes me in its grip. I
look around me. Darkness everywhere, everywhere.

I ride on, into the storm, through the
corridor of gloom. I see nothing, but
I ride on. And then. Light. Light enfolds
me, embraces me. I am home. The storm,
behind me. I am in light, my spirit free.

A night bicycle ride is a beautiful thing…the wind, the soft rain…the clouds over the moon. It was truly wonderful.
